NHS Meningitis B vaccination service

The NHS MenB vaccination service is available for eligible young people in the following groups:
You are eligible if you:
  • Were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, or
  • Were born on or after 21 July 2001 and have evidence of an offer of a place for your first year in higher education (issued by UCAS or your university or college) or residential further education (issued by one of the organisations listed on the GOV.UK website for the 2026/27 academic year). Subsequent years are not eligible for an NHS vaccination, but can access the vaccination privately.
How to book
If you were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008
You can book your NHS MenB vaccination:
If you are eligible because you have a first year offer of higher or residential further education
Please do not use the NHS website or call 119. Although you are eligible for the NHS MenB vaccination, these booking routes do not currently support this eligibility group. Please email [email protected] with your name, address and date of birth and we will contact you to book an appointment at a Citywide Health pharmacy closest to your home.
Evidence required 
If you are eligible through higher or residential further education, you must bring evidence of your offer to your first vaccination appointment.
We can accept any of the following:
  • An official offer email from UCAS or your university or college.
  • An official offer letter from your university or college.
  • A screenshot of your offer.
Your evidence must clearly show:
  • The name of the university or college, and
  • The course title or course code.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to administer the vaccine without appropriate evidence of eligibility.

If you are not a first year student, ie it’s your second or subsequent year, you do not qualify for an NHS vaccination, you can request a private vaccination with this link PRIVATE Meningitis B vaccinations

I want to say how impressed I’ve been today with the service I’ve had at Haxby Pharmacy. I called in this morning for advice as I’ve just become unwell and I’m leaving first thing tomorrow on a trip to Lebanon. The pharmacist helped me to arrange an appointment with the local GP, as she suspected I needed antibiotics. I was able to pick up a prescription at the same pharmacy by no later than 3pm that day. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and helpful and a credit to the pharmacy.

My husband had a large blister on his knee after a carpet burn. The pharmacist not only gave us reassuring advice, but told us how to treat it with the dressings she gave us by doing the first one for us. A week later, at another visit, she told us and showed us how to carry on with the care, saying how well it was doing. Care and advice like this would be almost impossible to obtain at the moment. We are very lucky to have such a friendly, expert pharmacist, willing to help so readily in our village. All the staff are helpful and friendly too.

Huntington Pharmacy Customer

I cannot thank Huntington Pharmacy enough for their excellent service. They managed to source some emergency supplies of tablets for my mum, which have been discontinued for the next three months. Without these tablets, my parents wouldn’t have been able to travel on their holiday and my mum would have been very poorly. The member of staff who was helping us managed to rectify this, overnight, which is just amazing. He went above and beyond to sort this out and we are so grateful, we cannot thank him enough.
